Bring Your Own WhatsApp Sender
By default, the WhatsApp companion nudge sends from AfriPhish's own WhatsApp Business number, under AfriPhish's approved display name. Enterprises that want the nudge to feel like it genuinely comes from their own security team can connect their own verified WhatsApp Business number and display name instead — for example "Acme IT" — so nudges arrive under the organisation's real identity.
Why not just pick a more convincing name?
Meta's review process only approves a display name that matches the real, verified owner of the number sending it. A generic or topical name on AfriPhish's own number gets rejected — it isn't the actual business behind that number. Connecting your own number sidesteps the problem entirely: your organisation's real name on your organisation's real number is approved by design, because there's no mismatch to catch.
Setting it up
Under Settings → WhatsApp Sender (tenant admin only):
- Enter your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) ID, Phone Number ID, and a System User access token with WhatsApp Business Messaging permission — generated in Meta Business Settings under System Users.
- Add a display name (informational — this is what you registered with Meta) and turn on Use our own WhatsApp sender.
- Click Save configuration.
- Click Test Connection to confirm the token and phone number are valid and reachable.
- Click Provision templates to submit the companion nudge templates to your own WABA — they land as Pending in your organisation's own Meta WhatsApp Manager, where you review and approve them.
The access token is write-only. Once saved, it's encrypted at rest and never shown again — the field just shows a masked hint. Leaving it blank on a later save keeps the existing token.
Until your templates are approved
Readiness — a valid token and that campaign's companion template approved, in its language, on your WABA — is checked live at Test Connection and again right before a companion-enabled campaign launches. If your sender isn't ready at launch, you'll see a non-blocking warning; the campaign still launches, but its WhatsApp nudges are skipped rather than falling back to AfriPhish's number — a mismatched sender could tip off the very people you're testing.
Precedence
Once enabled, your organisation's own sender is used for every companion nudge, across all six pretext themes. Turn the toggle off at any time to fall back to AfriPhish's shared number.
